Abstract: |
This study explored 4 to 7 years old children's cognition for a taxidermied animals during a museum visit. It was finally discovered that the target group is able to differentiate the status as living/nonliving and authentic/artificial exhibits. Results revealed the further details that the perception of 4 to 7 years old children to the taxidermy can be divided into four categories:natural, man-made, living and nonliving things. The correct rate of children's understanding of the biological and authenticity attributions increases with age. Age has a significant impact on children's cognition. Children gradually approach and reach the cognitive level of adults with age, that is to say, they can realize that the taxidermy display in museum represent real natural objects and can reflect the scientific information of creatures in nature. |
