| In the 1970s, a series of changes in the social, economic and political fields have prompted museums, heritage sites and other cultural exhibiting sites to turn their attention to ‘experience’. Experience is not only a new way of dialogue with the past, but also the inevitable path after the rise of the cultural industry. In this case, museums focus on the collections, protection and researches relating to the objects have turned to the interest, behavior and visiting effect of the audience. Accordingly, experience has become a means for the museum to achieve its public mission and build its image. However, is the experience as good as it is portrayed? The Museum in Transition:A Philosophical Perspective, written by Hilde Hein, discusses the transition of museum focus from object to experience and its influence on the role of the museum under the framework of philosophy; it also expresses concerns about the museum experience and the declaration of diversity. Hein's discussion of experience offers fresh ideas and directions for reflecting on the museum development. |
