| 灭菌器是很多科学实验和医疗操作中不可或缺的日常仪器,但在国内的博物馆收藏和科学史研究中均被忽视。本文追溯了清华大学科学博物馆收藏的一台老旧高压蒸汽灭菌器的历史,希望以此引起国内科学史研究者和博物馆同行对灭菌器及相关仪器的关注。高压蒸汽灭菌器的发明和使用得益于19世纪西方科学和技术发展,它的流行也是工业生产、商业运作和跨国贸易的结果。清华大学这台高压灭菌器见证了这一历程,也从物质层面提示了一件科学仪器在生产、流通和使用中的生命史。 |

| As an instrument quotidian yet indispensable for most scientific experiments and medical practices, the sterilizer has been underrepresented in museum collections and historical studies of science in China. Tracing the history of an autoclave collected by Tsinghua University Science Museum, this essay aims to call attention to steam sterilizers and autoclaves in museums and histories. The invention and evolution of autoclave resulted from the development of science and technology in the West, and they were popularly deserved from the late nineteenth century due to industrial production, commercial operation and transnational trade. The autoclave held in Tsinghua attested to this history, yet at the same time it reminds us of its materiality as a piece of scientific instrument and its biography as a thing in its very production, circulation and consumption. |
