| The Encyclopédie which was edited by Diderot and published during the Enlightenment, included a large number of industrial production technology and also illustrated machine operation and production processes. Deeply affected by this book, Abbé Grégoire promoted the National Convention to establish the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers in 1794. The Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers presented the mechanical contents from the Encyclopédie through mechanical objects and models. Under the influence of the enlightenment and French revolution, Abbé Grégoire sought to promote the development of national industry and science popularization by the establishment of Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers. |
