Abstract: |
Royal Ontario Museum(ROM) is Canada's largest museum that incorporates both natural history and world cultures. The ROM has over 12.5 million specimens and artifacts in its collections with a strong emphasis on Canadian material, but also a broad international scope of research. In 2017, the museum had its highest attendance record of more than 1.3 million visitors, which was the most for any cultural or scientific institution in the country. The public space at the ROM includes 27 permanent galleries of world cultures and natural history, 2 hands-on discovery galleries for children, and 4 major display areas for temporary exhibitions. The ROM salvaged both skeletons and plastinated one heart for display in a major exhibit to celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary since confederation, which will now travel across the country and overseas in the coming years. |
